The global rise of Afrobeats, one of Africa’s most prominent cultural exports, has continued to captivate audiences worldwide.
A recent report by music streaming service, Spotify showed that the Afrobeat genre was streamed over 13 billion streams in 2022 alone, compared to just 2 billion in 2017. The genre’s success extends into 2023, with more than 7.1 billion streams and over 223 million hours of playtime on only Spotify.
