It has not been easy in recent days to reach Benoît Fader Keita, aka Beni Fadi, in his small town of Bandafassi, 700km south of Dakar. The winter rains took their toll on his phone, and it’s when he’s at home with his wife (and the network doesn’t make any whims) that you can find him, if he’s not not gone fishing or looking after his animals. When we finally catch ourselves, he has just returned from a night catching catfish, these large catfish that live in the backwaters.
