Houria Aichi, a woman holding a drum, in black and white, is part of a chain of singing women.

It all started in Batna, in the Aurès region, in the northeast of Algeria. It is at the foot of these Berber mountains, cradle of the Algerian independence uprising, that Houria Aïchi was born and that singing, from the outset, was part of her life.

Then it was in France, in the 1980s, that everything accelerated. A sociology teacher, she meets a friend of a friend at a party who hears her sing and offers her a stage in Paris. She accepted without hesitation and put together a repertoire based on songs from her childhood: “ I have right away…
