
Early Life and Education
Oscar Mbongeni Ndlovu, professionally known as Oscar Mbo, was born on August 7, 1990, in Pretoria, South Africa. Raised in Kriel, Mpumalanga, west of Witbank, he spent much of his childhood in this region.
Oscar pursued his education at the Technikon Witwatersrand (TUKS), where he studied Fine Arts. In 2001, he relocated to Johannesburg to further his career and immerse himself in the city’s vibrant music scene.
Career Trajectory and Musical Evolution
Oscar Mbo embarked on his professional music career in 2017. He is renowned for his distinctive blend of house music, incorporating elements of deep house, deep tech, Nu Jazz, broken beat, and lounge music.
In September 2019, he released his debut EP, Life & Love, followed by his debut album, Golden Power, in November of the same year.
Oscar’s second studio album, For The Groovists, was released in October 2020. The album featured collaborations with prominent artists such as Kabza De Small and was nominated for Best Dance Album at the 27th South African Music Awards.
In July 2021, he released the EP Defenders of House, further solidifying his position in the house music genre.
